PornHub, the Internet's largest collection of free pornography, announced on Wednesday it is launching an Indiegogo campaign to raise an estimated $3.4 million to make the first sex tape in space.

If that sounds far-fetched, consider that the company raised $10,000 the first day.

Dubbed "Sexplorations," the film will feature popular porn stars 26-year-old Eva Lovia and Johnny Sins. The actors will undergo six months of intensive training before attempting the in-space tryst.

PornHub released a Vimeo preview that shows little scientific significance of the project other than a first attempt to copulate and record it in space.

"We're looking to pioneer a one-of-a-kind mission to push the boundaries of intergalactic sexploration, defy gravity and make history," PornHub Vice President Corey Price says in the trailer.

Lovia, who has recently crowned Digital Playground Star 2015, says in the preview that learning what it's like to orgasm in space and bragging rights drew her to the project.

Though the adult film will not be a scientific documentary, its creation and success relies solely on science. If funding comes through, scientists will help PornHub get the project off of the ground.

When Business Insider asked PornHub whether NASA, SpaceX, or the Russian Federal Space Agency will send their porn stars into space, the online adult video publisher said, "We're actually currently in talks with a number of companies, but because of the nature of our endeavor, we aren't really able to disclose the details of those talks just yet for fear that that would risk unnecessary fallout from the aforementioned parties."

According to PornHub, the video production will begin inside the spacecraft when it takes flight.

"Filming will commence upon takeoff and as the ship climbs in altitude, so too will the lovemaking," PornHub told Business Insider. "However, we are currently contemplating having a short amount of pre-production hours allocated for preparation and some quick rehearsal prior to lift off to take place on the ground at the hub of whichever consumer flight company we end up going with."

The sex act and filming will take place as soon as the space ship reaches its maximum altitude, according to the company. "There will be weightlessness (zero gravity) for at least a few minutes. Our actors will be having sex and climaxing within that time frame -- ideally, of course. Thankfully we have a very experienced production crew and directorial team to help make the money shot happen in a way that looks dynamic and revolutionary for viewers," PornHub said.

PornHub needs to meet its funding goal before it can finalize a production timeline and announce a release date for the space pornography.

"We're tentatively scheduled to do so at this point in late 2016 based on our roughest estimates," the company said.
