The Google Glass has achieved a brand new milestone as it was reportedly used by an orthopedic surgeon to perform a foot surgery.

DNA India wrote that Dr Selen G Parekh used the device to broadcast the operation on the Internet and share the valuable information of the process to other doctors in the medical industry. The procedure transpired during an Indo-US conference led by Dr Ashish Sharma. It was Dr Sharma who praised the capacity of Google Glass and emphasized its use to get in touch with the family of the patient and even teach students or share with other doctors any relevant information even via remote.

The doctor further reiterated that the use of Google Glass can lessen the need for cameras around the OR since having many men around the room can increase the emergence of an infection. It can also help doctors to reach out to other patients who are in places that are too far from the modern city scene.

It was in December 2013 when another plastic surgeon also wore the Google Glass when he performed a rhinoplasty procedure on a patient with a broken nose, Medical News Today stated. There was also one US surgeon who used an iPad and the Google Glass to livestream a procedure too.

For now, Google Glass is still in its beta testing stage. Google has set up the Explorer Program that involves shipping of about 8,000 devices to those who would test it all around the globe. The tech giant is also to add features to its Google Glass before it gets offered to the public.

However, even before its offering to the market is confirmed, Buffalo News reports that the same man who banned the cellphone use while driving now targets Google Glass next. According to Brooklyn Democrat Felix Ortiz, the eyeglass smartphone wearable devices should also be considered illegal for those who drive.
