What is it about Florida that causes people to go crazy? Anyway, in today's weird news out of the so-called "Sunshine State," a woman is under arrest on the grounds of child endangerment after she tried to ship her 1-year-old child.

NBC Miami is reporting that Erin Carnes, 27, left the child by the mailbox in Palmetto, Fla. because she believed the child's father lived there with another woman. She then returned to the mailbox to drop off additional baby items at the mailbox. According to the sheriff's office, the woman who lived at the address never agreed to take the child, nor did she want to take the child. It's unclear whether the woman in question was the child's father's girlfriend.

Nevertheless, Carnes was then "involved in an accident on a nearby bridge and threatened to jump off the bridge but was talked out of it by a police sergeant, the sheriff's office said.

"She was taken to a nearby hospital, then booked into jail. Child Protective Services placed the child with its grandmother," according to NBC Miami.

Further, according to CBS Tampa Bay, the woman who discovered the child, Jauquita Sails, found him crawling into oncoming traffic. She brought him to safety before dialing 911 and reporting the incident to the local sheriff's offices. The official count against Carnes is one count of abuse of a child without great harm Sunday, Manatee County Jail records showed. She was being held on $10,000 bond Tuesday and it was unknown whether she has an attorney.

Hopefully, when this matter is finally said and done, police in Florida will be smart enough to not return the child to Carnes' care. What do you think should happen in this case? What's the worst case of child abuse or endangerment you've ever heard? And what is it about Florida, in particular, that breeds this type of idiot?!
