Showtime's Homicidal Thiller 'Dexter' to Appear on Jennifer Lopez's NUVOtv
Dexter, Showtime's eight season-long homicidal thriller, has returned to television, appearing on Jennifer Lopez's NUVOtv. Fans and newcomers to the show will have another opportunity to experience the bloodshed and drama through syndicated re-airings, beginning Monday, Jan. 13. The series' Latino cast members expressed their excitement about the broadcasting of the series on the Latino network.
David Zayas, who portrayed Angel Batista throughout the length of the series, told Fox New Latino, "It's great, it's great that it's on NUVOtv, which is a great station for English-speaking Latinos across the country."
Puerto Rican actress Lauren Velez, who played the role of the tough-as-nails Lt. Maria LaGuerta, also gave applause regarding the drama being televised on NUVO just months after the series ended.
"It's great that people have access to the show and people who didn't get a chance to watch it (can now). It's wonderful to have a second life," said Velez. "I'm having people on the street saying, 'Isn't that coming on NUVO? That's cool. I am going to get to watch it,' and they are young Latinos."
The television program aired October 2006, running until September 2013, and it centers around a blood spatter patter analyst for Miami police, Dexter Morgan. The show's sociopathic protagonist is played by Michael C. Hall. The blood-thirsty Dexter kills according using "Harry's code," a code which dictates that he hunts down other serial killers who've gotten away with murder.
Zayas and Velez, who played colleagues and were shortly onscreen husband and wife, expressed the sense of belonging gained from working on the series together for so many years.
"We had the comfort and the luxury of coming in every day and working with the people we worked with," said Zayas. "And we knew even in our hiatus that we would come back and regroup with this family-feel... That is what I miss the most. It was wonderful to work every day and work with them."
The 96 episodes will appear one per week, and will air on NUVOtv at 9 p.m. EST on Monday.
