Demetria Devonne "Demi" Lovato is a superstar, a singer, a talent judge, a survivor and a role model. She was born in Albuquerque, N.M. but was raised in Dallas. The star of Mexican descent has spent her whole life in the entertainment world. She started her career, alongside friend and colleague Selena Gomez, in Barney and Friends. Lovato then joined the Disney Channel acting in As The Bell Rings, Sonny With a Chance and Camp Rock, a Disney musical film where she debuted her powerful vocals.

Demi, along with The Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus, went on to Hollywood singing and acting careers that took them to stardom. 1. Demi Lovato & Selena Gomez vs. Miley Cyrus & Mandy Jiroux

The Disney Channel days of Camp Rock, Wizards of Waverly Place and Hannah Montana brought Selena, Miley and Demi together. The girls even admit that the Disney studios were their "highschool," meaning they had the usual teenage drama that we experienced. Since they would spend so much time together working, BFFs Selena and Demi created a YouTube channel where they would upload funny video of themselves.

Demi and Selena's YouTube channel was fun, sweet and a way to connect with their fans. On the very first video, Selena and Demi talked about Power Ranger shirts, wearing too much make-up and Demi's fixed gap. Sounds cute right? Well, Ms. Miley Cyrus and her BFF at the time, Mandy Jiroux, felt that it would be fun to make their own YouTube channel "imitating" Selena and Demi. But the Miley and Mandy Show seemed more like a chance to ridicule and make fun of their Disney Channel "friends" than a friendly imitation.

Speculation rose that Miley, Selena and Demi weren't getting along. Many claimed that Miley was jealous of their friendship and created the rival videos to just be mean to the Latina friends. Hannah Montana (at the time) denied the claims saying she was sorry if she had offended Demi and Selena and that her and Mandy were just "supporting" them through their mock videos.

Years later, the now adult superstars remain friendly to each other, complementing each other's work and hanging out once in a while.

2. Demi Lovato Attacks a Back-Up Dancer Before Checking into Rehab.

At this point of Demi Lovato is 18 years old and actively touring and singing. She is just another Disney star, who dates Joe Jonas (Jonas Brothers) and has a successful singing career. All of a sudden, news is released that Demi Lovato has attacked a back-up dancer on an airplane. Alex Welch is 21 years old and has worked as well as traveled with Demi, Miley and The Jonas Brothers numerous amounts of times.

There had been rumors of Demi Lovato having a "diva" attitude to her and being difficult to work with. Specific cases however, were never presented until now. Turns out that Demi got in trouble with her step father Eddie De La Garza and tour managers, who found out that she and a group of dancers had gone out partying the night before. Demi rudely confronted Alex, thinking she had snitched her out, which led to the fight that left Alex with a bruised eye.

This was the incident that led to Demi checking into rehab. The world was stunned, as the artist had done a great job at hiding any issues. The next time we would see Demi, we would understand why she went into rehab.

3. Demi Lovato confesses she had an eating disorder and a self-harming problem.

After she was released from rehab, Lovato let us into her world. She confessed that for a long time she would do everything from starving herself to making herself sick. "I went to just completely starving myself and that turned into throwing up and starving myself and it was just this crazy battle going on inside of me," Demi said.

The "Don't Forget" singer also explained that she would cut herself. At the treatment center, she recovered they even diagnosed her with bi-polar disorder and depression. The singer says she "unhappy with [her] body" and everything just got out of control. "It got really difficult [and] I would throw up and it would just be blood and it was something that I realized if I don't stop this, I am going to die," Lovato confesses in a later interview.

She also admits to "overeating" when she was younger, which led to the body image issues in the first place.

4. Demi Finally Admits to Having Been An Alcoholic with an Addiction to Cocaine.

Much speculation surrounded the recovered actress and singer after rehab. The rumors were that Lovato also had a drug and alcohol problem that she had not fessed up to. Turns out it was true. Now at the age of 21 years old Demi admitted that her team advice her not to discuss the drug and alcohol struggles that she had very early on in life.

Demi, during a candid interview in which she herself says "I don't know if I should be sharing this," told us the entire truth. Now an advocate against bullying, eating disorders and addictions, Demi gave us the confession that shocked us all. "Something I've never talked about before, [is] my drug use. I could hide it to where I would sneak drugs. I couldn't go without 30 minutes to an hour without cocaine and I would bring it on airplanes," Demi said.

The "Heartattack" singer became a harcore partier during her teenage years. "I was going to the airport and I had a Sprite bottle just filled with vodka and it was just nine in the morning. I was throwing up in the car and this was just to get on a plane to go back to LA to the sober living house that I was staying at ... I had all the help in the world, but I didn't want it ... When I hit that moment I was like, it's no longer fun when you're doing it alone," she explains about the moment she knew she had hit rock bottom.

Demi now embraces her success of surviving those dark times and often visits rehabilitation centers where she serves as a motivational speaker.

5. Demi Throws Subliminal Shots at the Kardashians and Justin Bieber During The X Factor.

Even though Demi Lovato publically thanked Kim Kardashian for calling her while she was in rehab, it seems like she still doesn't appreciate how the reality star reached stardom? During an episode of X Factor where Lovato spent two years as a judge, her critique of a contestant sounded a bit like a subliminal shot. "When people say, 'I want to be famous -- I want to be a star' you have to ask; 'What are your intentions?' If you just want to be famous, make a sex tape."  Sounds like a clear shot at Kim K. doesn't it?

She also added, "So what I'd say is, if you're doing it because you want to be a respected actress or musician, follow your dream. If you just want paparazzi following you, rethink what's going on in your little head. It's crazy how people confuse the two nowadays."

Maybe she was just speaking her mind and did not realize that the "sex tape" and "paparazzi" comments match up really well with the Kardashian family's quest to fame. But Demi wasn't done there.

There has always been a little tension between Demi Lovato and Justin Bieber. Bieber is Selena Gomez's on and off boyfriend. Demi, who has allegedly claim that Justin is a bad influence to her best friend, obviously prefers Selena to stay away from the troubled kid. A contestant who sang one of Justin's hit songs, "As Long As You Love Me," received this positive criticism from Demi? "Well finally someone can sing the song the way it was meant to be sung". Ooooh, shot at Bieber's singing voice? Could be.

That same day the "Skyscrapper" singer also commented on a contestant who just didn't have a very good attitude saying, "We don't need another little punk running the streets." We will let you be the judge of that one. Just to remind you, JB's bad behavior comes to mind when you hear the word "punk."

6. Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez Feud

This one is sad. But we're glad this moment is over as Selena and Demi have rekindled their friendship since then. From rumors saying that Selena "dated" Demi's ex Joe Jonas to misunderstandings between Taylor Swift and Demi, nobody really knows the reason why the inseparable friends had a falling out. Demi simply described it as, "we've been through a lot."

During an interview with Girls Life magazine, Lovato targeted Gomez saying, "we're both busy, and I wish the best for her. True friends don't let their friends or family be mean to you. If you can't trust somebody, you can't be friends with them". Maybe she was referring to the Taylor Swift rivalry and the fact that Selena still remained Taylor's friend. When asked where Selena was by fans one day Demi answered, "ask Taylor Swift."

As girls, we understand that envy, gossip and drama can occur during a friendship. Happily, Selena and Demi have realized the worth of theirs after a fall out three years ago. "We've been through a lot together, we've had periods of times where we grew apart and we just didn't really talk. The "Made in the USA" singer also added about Selena, "She's going to be a big sister, and I want to be around for that. Even though at the time they weren't on talking terms, Selena was there for Demi during her time in rehab. 7. Cheyne Thomas, Miley Cyrus Assistant & BFF Post Video Ridiculing Demi Lovato's "Cocaine" Confession.

Of course Hollywood also has the "mean girls" and jerks that will forever pick on another people. Now, you can argue that this wasn't a shot at Demi but where else did you hear this phrase if it wasn't?

On a night out, Miley Cyrus and her assistant/best friend Cheyne Thomas felt theatrical. While eating at a restaurant Cheyne had someone record a quick Instagram video of him drinking Coca-Cola. Innocent enough right? Not! During the clip Cheyne goes, " I can only go 30-60 minutes without coke," as he takes a zip of a bottle of Coca-Cola.

Sounds familiar? That's because that is the exact quote that Demi Lovato confessed saying that she couldn't go longer than "30 minutes to an hour without cocaine." Aren't Miley and Demi friends? And how is this funny? It's understandable to make jokes and poke fun at each other when you are with friends, but to post it on social media where everyone will see it, was obviously to make Demi feel bad.

Even though Cyrus wasn't in the video, this is her assistant and she was probably there. Eww Miley, just eww.

8. Joe Jonas's Confessions About Demi Lovato

The letter read around the world. Joe Jonas, teen idol and virgin "goody goody" released a letter confessing everything he had gone through "growing up as a Jonas Brother." After breaking free from his two brothers and leaving the band, Joe put it all out there, even if that meant throwing some people under the bus.

So by this point, Demi's struggles were all in the open and Miley Cyrus had already gone wild. But it was still somewhat of a shock for people to hear Joe's confession about weed. He claims Demi and Miley peer pressured him into trying marijuana for the first time. This gave us another look into the not-so-innocent world of Disney. I mean, Hollywood is Hollywood but how is it this easy for 15-year olds to buy drugs? Geez.

Joe also confessed that after getting to know all of Demi's problems he stuck around with her because she needed him. He admits that he was "no longer happy" in the relationship but that he felt a responsibility over her and that's why he didn't break up with her sooner. Demi responded kindly to Joe's confession, tweeting that she was proud of him for speaking up. Miley on the other hand, pretty much called him a sissy, saying that there was no way two teenage girls could "peer pressure" anyone into doing something he didn't want to do.

9. Demi Lovato's X Factor's Annoying Juice, Singer Mouths "That's F***** Up."

Demi Lovato announced that she was leaving the X Factor because she wanted to continue working on herself and her career. During the season finale of the show, the X Factor producers prepared a little joke for Demi. It all went wrong when Demi didn't find it funny at all.

Mario Lopez and his dimples explained that Demi had been picking on Simon Cowell all season long. He said that maybe this had something to do with what she had been drinking. Before the video clip even started, you hear Demi's terrified voice in the background go "what?!" You see, the word "drinking" can be taken out of text for a recovering alcoholic who is trying to prove to the public that she is remaining sober.

As the clip rolled showing Demi drinking a green juice identified as "annoying juice," the camera squares the judge's reaction. Demi turns to fellow judge Kelly Rowland and mouths, "Oh my god, that's so f****d up." After the video is over, Mario asks Lovato what she thought; she simply said, "well, since I don't drink anymore, 'annoying juice' is what I use to annoy Simon." Though she kept it cool during the show, Demi was offended.

There were even rumors that Demi thought that the X Factor made the clip with the purpose of mocking her drinking problem and get vengeance on her leaving the show. Rumors of legal action being taken circled the media realm but nothing so far has happened.

10. Lovato's Twitter Rant: Calls Fans "Haters" for Not Understanding Her PCA Absence.

The 2014 People's Choice Awards came around this year and fans were super excited to see their favorite stars. Demi was even nominated for Favorite Female Artist. But to her fan's disappointment, Demi decided not to go. Demi tweeted, "I'm not at the PCA's because as I have stated before, I'm taking as much time off this month as possible".

But after Demi won the award and was not there to accept it, her own fans became very angry. "Damn...Just hopped online to check twitter and some 'fans' are being really mean L," Dem Tweeted. Her followers felt that she was unappreciative of their votes because she wasn't at the award show. "There are 'fans' who say they support me, then hate on me, my personal life and my loved ones..." Demi said.

Even through all of the twitter drama that night, Demi was very happy and excited that she won the award for Favorite Female Artist. She tweeted, "I'M SO EXCITED!!!! THANK YOU GUYS SOOOOO MUCH!!! #FavoriteFemaleArtist." It seems to be all-good now and we're happy that Demi won!
