One Direction fans were sent into a frenzy when rumors that Zayn Malik was going to return became a top trending topic online. Social media users were surprised – and delighted – when Malik’s profile was reposted on the official 1D website.

Although the band did not fully close its doors to their former band mate, no confirmation has been made regarding Malik's possible come back.

“Still, as far as the boys are concerned, Zayn has an open invitation to rejoin the group when he gets his head back on straight,” a source revealed to Hollywood Life. “He is a brother to them. They will not turn their back on him in his time of need.”

The hash tag #ZaynIsComingBack immediately took Twitter by storm. However, many have refuted the claims, saying that his bio page was actually never removed from the site in the first place.

It didn't stop the band's supporters from wishing for the best, though.

“Obviously, if Zayn is coming back, it will not be the same anymore,” wrote one fan. “But, I still would be so happy. I miss him so freaking much.”

However, if Malik decides to return to the band, Simon Cowell and 1D’s record company “may have other thoughts” about taking him on again, noted Hollywood Life. Still, fans are delighted to know that the remaining boys of the internationally famous boy band are still going to welcome Malik back amid rumors that there is bad blood between them.

“We are really sad to see Zayn go,” said the band through a statement that was posted on their official Facebook web page. “But, we totally respect his decision and send him all our love for the future. The past five years have been beyond amazing. We have gone through so much together. So, we will always be friends.”

Meanwhile, while Malik has been away from the limelight, his fans are not ready to give up on him just yet. In fact, he is going up against his former band mates for this year’s Teen Choice Awards Choice Male Hottie, as indicated on the official Teen Choice Awards website.
