Although “Fear the Walking Dead,” the upcoming semi-prequel to the the AMC hit zombie series “The Walking Dead,” has been billed several times by its producers as a totally different show with a different tone and pace, in some ways the Kim Dickens and Cliff Curtis-starring series will act as a kind of mirror to the mother show.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, show creator Robert Kirkman said that everything that happens in "Fear the Walking Dead" is in the same universe as "The Walking Dead.”

This will give viewers a unique experience, where they get to learn the significane of events on one show based on what happens in the other.

“Any rule that we find out and anything they see in the early days is definitely something that was happening in the past of the other show," he said.

As the shows are woven from the same fictional cloth, even characters that will not necessarily interact with each other due to time and geological space will yield before the same governing laws.

“So yeah, anything that you learn from 'Fear the Walking Dead' will apply to the mythology of 'The Walking Dead' and vice versa,” said Kirkmam, who adds that viewers “are going to get to see that the characters learn that they’re all infected in a much different way. But all the rules do apply and are the same. That will be some of the fun if you’re watching both shows.”

A recent article in Design & Trend went ahead and listed five reason why the spinoff could not be as good or tension filled as the original.

One of the reasons that stood out as plausible was location. As "Fear the Walking Dead" is set in Los Angeles, it is simply a less dangerous than anything set in the deep south.

"Fear the Walking Dead," which still has no specific air date, will begin in August on AMC.
