Huawei Honor 7: New Smartphone from Chinese Maker Could Feature a Finger Print Sensor
The next Huawei Honor smartphone is coming on June 30.
According to a teaser announcement poster displayed on Huawei's Weibo page, the Honor 7 could be equipped with a finger print sensor, according to CNet.
The poster shows the name of the phone, the Honor 7 and the date of its reveal, June 30. The most interesting part of the poster is the finger print picture in the middle. This is a hint that the Honor 7 will include a finger print sensor on it.
Huawei is getting more popular in China, where the phones are made. In the first quarter of 2015, Huawei's smartphone share rose from 7.8 percent for quarter one 2014 to 11.4 percent for quarter one of 2015, according to research firm International Data Corporation (IDC).
Even with increasing popularity, Huawei is still trailing fellow Chinese company Xiaomi and worldwide giant Apple. Apple owns first place in market share in China, thanks in large part to the recently released iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
Huawei wants to focus on high-end smartphones as it tries to gain more customers and take on its competitors. Huawei could add a finger print sensor to stay competitive with Apple and Xiaomi. Apple has a fingerprint sensor on its latest phones and Xiaomi will add a finger print sensor to its soon-to-be-released Mi 5 smartphone.
The Huawei Honor 7 is an exciting smartphone. According to GSMArena, it will be made from aircraft-grade metal and have a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 display.
There may be two versions of the phone, one with 16 GB of storage and 3 GB of RAM and another with 64 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM. The Honor 7 will come with a 13 megapixel camera with auto focus and an LED flash.
Huawei will announce the phone's price and availability on June 30.
