Powerball Numbers & Results June 17, 2015: Watch Live Stream Of Drawing For $70 Million Jackpot
Wednesday’s Powerball is here. And since no one won the grand prize in the last drawing -- when the numbers were: 29, 41, 48, 52 and 54, and the Powerball was 29 -- all that money has rolled over and is now at $70 Million with a $43 million cash value.
There were 382,463 regular winners and $8,432,281 in non-jackpot money was won.
There are actually nine ways to win Powerball, with a 1 in 175,223,510.00 in winning the grand prize, and a 1 in 5,153,632.65 in winning $1,000,000.
So the chances of winning are pretty slim, but people do win.
The main thing players have to do when playing is hold onto their ticket and check their numbers. There are certainly tales of people who have not been able to do that. A Washington Lottery Powerball player, for example, is days away from facing the tragedy of having a ticket worth $1,000,000 expire.
The ticket, which was sold in Tumwater, Washington, in the 2014 Christmas Eve drawing will expire on June 22, which would mean all that money would go back into future lottery jackpots.
As reported by KOMO News, Jana Jones, a legal director for Washington's Lottery spoke about the tendency for people with winning tickets to be unaware of their fortune.
"We've had winners who have taken their tickets and hidden them in sun visors or under their floor mats," Jones said. "They forget they are there."
Jones stated that on average $11.4 million in prizes go unclaimed every year in Washington, saying that the Powerball office recognizes that there is an expiration date coming up.
"There will be a restlessness here at headquarters in anticipation and hopefulness that somebody will come in," she added.
