Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update Release Date: OTA Now Available for Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge rolled out in the U.S. with lots of hard hitting hardware, apps, and ads. But the one thing it didn't have was Android 5.1 Lollipop. Now T-Mobile is changing that for its customers by rolling out Android 5.1.1 Lollipop first.
Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge handsets in the U.S. should be getting OTA update notification any minute now, if they're T-Mobile subscribers, because the update is rolling out now, according to TechnoBuffalo. The update brings several bug fixes and new features.
As far as the technical stuff, Android 5.1.1 comes with stability improvements, fixes a random reboot issue, and other bug fixes.
One of the most anticipated additional features is the ability to control exposure in pictures in the camera app. Users with Android 5.1.1 can use a slider to brighten or darken their subjects' appearance on screen before taking a snap.
Another feature coming to the Galaxy S6 is access to remove S Finder and Quick Connect toggles from the notifications shade. Finally, there's parallax wallpapers -- just like Apple -- which creates a 3D effect on between the background and app icons.
If you have T-Mobile and an S6 or S6 Edge, you should be getting an OTA notification from your carrier any day now. But as with every Samsung update, you can get the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update immediately by using Samsung KIES on your Mac or PC and update your device that way.
