In the Season 1 finale of the Steven Spielberg-produced CBS series "Extant," viewers saw that Molly Woods (Halle Berry) made it out of the Seraphim with the help of her robotic son, according to Mashable.

It was her son that sacrificed himself for his mother, who in turn mourns him after not taking well to him in the beginning not being a real boy.

Her offspring was also seen making it out alive and the last we see of the character, he is picked up by a couple on the side of the road. That leads to many possibilities as to how Season 2 can play out with an array of new arcs possible.

According to a video on Spoilers Guide, we see that Molly Woods is now in a place called Restwell Recovery Center, which she has nicknamed "crazy acres" because it effectively doubles as a mental hospital. Her sorrow has been drowning her and she has revisited Ethan in virtual reality, which is where he also lives as a program considering he was not a real boy to start with.

But we can see that she is awash in sorrow and she is up for review to possibly be released. Although her release is not imminent, JD Richter, a police investigator played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan ("Supernatural"), shows up with a court order to have her released, much to the chagrin of the administrators who rail against it.

That is where the season truly picks up, because what Richter thinks is just a simple murder investigation, Molly knows to be an invasion of the human species.

Woods and Richter both form a bond that brings them closer together, even leading to a possible romantic encounter. That is also accompanied by Molly's increasing mental instability, which serves to remind the audience that she is permanently flawed and that underscores her efforts as the season progresses.

Season 2 premieres on CBS on July 1.
