FX ‘Fargo’ Season 2 News: A New Story, Cast and Incident Will Play Out in 1979 [Watch]
When Season 1 of "Fargo" debuted on FX, the show was met with critical praise and audience's responded well to the general makeup of the series. Now, Season 2 has followed in the footsteps of its network sister "American Horror Story" and will take place in a different setting with different actors and various new situations that arise that will drive the black comedy/drama, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The show has notoriously been a Midwestern setting, with the real Fargo in North Dakota. The original premise for the show was surmised by the 1996 film starring William H. Macy and Frances McDormand. It was the brainchild of two of Hollywood's brightest directors, the Coen Brothers, who earned an Oscar for Best Screenplay on the film along with McDormand who won an Oscar for Best Actress.
Season 2 will be taking place in Sioux Falls, South Dakota during 1979, which is where an incident took place that was frequently mentioned in Season 1. The first season actually took place in 2006 and the character of Molly Solverson (Allison Tolman) had a mother that will be in the cast during this prequel season.
Kirsten Dunst ("Spiderman") and Jesse Plemons will be headlining the cast for Season 2 alongside Ted Danson ("Cheers"), Patrick Wilson ("The Conjuring"), Nick Offerman and Jean Smart.
Wilson will be playing a younger version of Lou Solverson, the state trooper who was portrayed in the first season by Keith Carradine.
The show's hallmark design is the beautiful Midwestern landscapes. This scenery is still a driving factor for the show, as evidenced in the trailer below.
Filming for the season began in January in Calgary and Season 2, which has been given a ten episode order, will debut on FX in September 2015. The Coen brothers are still attached to the show as executive producers, just like last season.
