The success of "American Horror Story: Freak Show" leaves the franchise in a unique position to attract some of its original star talent back.

The franchise creator, Ryan Murphy, recently sat down with Deadline and answered a few questions about what can be expected from the next installment of the series, "American Horror Story: Hotel."

The first thing you may already know about "AHS Hotel" is that the pop-star and "Fame Monster" Lady Gaga will be featured next season in what could potentially be drawing on American classics such as "The Shining" and "1408."

The show has achieved enormous success on FX with the "Freak Show" season drawing the cable network's largest audience to date, which was about 12.64 million viewers (this includes the linear and non-linear [DVR] numbers).

So what could make this anthology series even more successful? Well, the return of Jessica Lange could be a huge draw.

When speaking about his actors for the series, Murphy gave us a few details into what they have to endure. But he also spoke at length about how they have a choice from season-to-season on whether they want to stay or not.

"They feel that they have a choice to a certain degree and that's certainly how I always approached Jessica every season; I would say, 'Here's the role, here's the theme; are you in, do you want to do it?' and I was lucky enough that she said yeah," Murphy told Deadline. "I think if I came up with something extraordinary for her, if I could come up with a great character, she's all about that, and she's told me that, if you have something great after I sort of get my rest then let's keep talking, so I'll do that."

"American Horror Story," although it did have a record-breaking season in terms of commercial success this year, also held the previous record before that with their "Coven" season.

FX has seen its numbers steadily rise over the years with this type of anthology theme, so it greenlit a spinoff series titled "American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson," which stars John Travolta and Cuba Gooding Jr.
