"Playboy" founder Hugh Hefner responded to his former girlfriend Holly Madison's tell-all book about her "nightmare" of a life at the Playboy Mansion, People reported.

Hefner claims that Madison is trying to rewrite history in order to stay in the spotlight by releasing her new book "Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny."

"Over the course of my life I've had more than my fair share of romantic relationships with wonderful women," Hefner said to People in a statement. "Many moved on to live happy, healthy and productive lives and I'm pleased to say remain dear friends today. Sadly, there are a few who have chosen to rewrite history in an attempt to stay in the spotlight."

The 89-year-old Playboy mogul added, "I guess, as the old saying goes: You can't win 'em all."

The former Playboy Bunny dished details about her life in the Mansion where she writes that all girlfriends were expected to participate in group sex, Cosmopolitan noted.

"I didn't immediately realize that all girlfriends were required to sleep with Hef," Madison writes.

She revealed that Hefner told her to do drugs on her first night out partying with him. When she refused he said he approved of them because they were called "thigh openers."

According to Madison's book, Hefner had ridiculous rules for his girlfriends and would cause drama between them. He demanded for them to follow a 9 p.m. curfew and when they didn't, he would through a fit and threaten to kick them out.

She says he made his girlfriends stay at his table during parties at the Mansion and that they were only allowed to leave to use the bathroom. If the girls wanted to dance, they were only permitted to do so in front of his table and when he left at 1 a.m., they had to go upstairs with him.

Madison's tell-all book is set to hit shelves on Tuesday.
