Selena Gomez In Elvis Duran Interview: 'I Don't Trust Anyone'
Singer Selena Gomez stopped by "The Elvis Duran Z100 Morning Show" early Tuesday morning and spoke about her new music, while also revealing that she struggles to trust people and is very guarded.
"People are like, 'We want you to be better!' And everybody's like 'I want you to be better' and everybody's like 'I want you to be healthy,' 'I want you to be happy,' 'I want you to be this,'" Gomez told Duran. "And then the moment you're trying to find some sort of happiness, it's so crazy. It's not safe for anyone! You can't talk about anything that you want to share with people because it's going to be ripped apart, and that's what makes me really sad."
According to People, the 22-year-old explained how she often chooses to stay home instead of going out because of the paparazzi. It is because of her super stardom that she doesn't feel like people remember she is a "human being with feelings."
"It's something that I have to live with and I have to find the balance of who I want in my life and who isn't good for me," said the star. "I get sad, I get anxious, I get emotional, I get happy. Especially in my 20s, my gosh! I feel like I'm figuring out who I am and I'm constantly being criticized."
The "Heart Wants What It Wants" actress has had to deal with constant speculation over the years over her relationship with singer Justin Bieber and even canceled a tour in 2013 because of her deteriorating health, reported The Hollywood Reporter.
With the recent announcement that Gomez is Pantene's newest ambassador, the upcoming film "Hotel Transylvania", and her latest single "Good For You," which features rapper A$AP Rocky, Gomez's career appears to be back on track. The actress shared details about her single and said it is about her journey of self growth and "the confidence of me turning into a young woman."
"I think that this song represents the confidence that I truly have inside of me, and I think it's the vulnerable side that I've expressed, but it's also the combination of just feeling myself," she said.
Up next for the young star is the release of the "Good For You" music video, which Gomez has teased fans with on social media. The video is set to be released later this week.
