A new Kevin Durant shoe is coming to Nike. The global sports brand has recently announced that the KD 8 is coming to the Oklahoma City Thunder player's signature shoe collection and it promises new features to the highly anticipated sneaker.

Designer Leo Chang designed the KD 8 in collaboration with Durant and other creative geniuses from Nike. The shoe is the culmination of hours of research, effort and flow of ideas to bring a sneaker that will not only be an amazing fit to the renowned basketball player but will also address his needs in the hard court.

According to the sports brand's official website, the KD 8 will feature two Nike trademark technologies for the first time. The 26-year-old NBA forward will finally be able to don a sneaker that will include both a Flyweave upper and an interlocked full-length Zoom Air unit.

Both elements aims to provide the NBA's 2014 MVP with the perfect fit, comfort and support that will match his dynamic moves while in play.

The choice for a Flyweave upper was no accident. Chang used the material in light of how Durant plays across the court during his matches.

"It is the most technically precise shoe we've designed for Kevin," told the designer. "Flyweave is optimal for his multidimensional skillset and footwork as he jumps, cuts, jabs and accelerates."

Flyweave, added with Flywire cables, will give the wearer a snug fit that "feels like second skin."

Meanwhile, the Zoom Air unit has been designed to give support for the forefoot and heel so that it flexes with every step made. In fact, Durant's favorite part of the shoe is the base it provides for his every move.

"When I first tested the KD8, I instantly loved the springy response of the Zoom Air combined with the natural feel of the Flyweave," said the six-time NBA All Star. "I didn't want to take it off."

As the shoe has been designed for the player's ultimate comfort and maximum performance, it is not a surprise that even the colorways available for the sneaker represent a milestone in his life.

According to Bloomberg, the KD8 "V8" is a representation of the Chevy Camaro V8 the player began driving when he started earning big money. On the other hand, the "4th of July" design comes in the colors of the American flag. It was inspired by his favorite holiday spent with family eating barbecues in the backyard.

The KD8 "Suit" is the same purple color the NBA star wore when he accepted the Most Valuable Player trophy in 2014.

The KD8 is available for customization with the Nike ID beginning June 23 while the "4th of July" drops in stores in July 27.
