Stars of the hit Fox comedy show "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" Melissa Fumero, 32, and Stephanie Beatriz, 34, graced the cover of Latina Magazine and gave fans a little insight into the show and their personal lives that was quite interesting, including that they are real-life friends.

The show itself features a comedic angle at every turn that gives them the opportunity to spit out one-liners during their hilarious actions romps, which gives the show a unique charm. They play their roles opposite Andy Samberg's Jake and Andre Braugher's Captain Holt.

They spoke about how the show has given them the opportunity to not just portray strong women on screen, but a "license to shoot from the mouth." This also includes the current TV climate right now where Latinas are experiencing a golden age in Hollywood.

"If you look at the landscape of television right now, we are in a really exciting time, with shows like 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine,' 'Orange Is the New Black,' 'Jane the Virgin' and 'How to Get Away with Murder,'" Beatriz told Latina Magazine. "There are so many different types of people right now on television. The light is coming through the cracks. You can't block it out anymore. It's changing."

But Beatriz and Fumero were both initially worried that their characters would in some way end on the show or they would be looking for new work sooner or later.

"I remember we would grab each other and go to the side and say, 'Do you think they will keep both of us?'" Beatriz remembered about the show's beginnings.

Fumero echoed Beatriz's initial worries.

"Even for our first table read, we texted each other, 'I'm going to wear my hair straight.' We were so nervous about the two Latinas thing." Fumero said.

They both experienced their own challenges though as the show progressed. Fumero recounted that she had to do improve with Sandberg, which in the end worked out very well with the two as they played off each other well.

Beatriz wears glasses in real life, but on the show she dons no eyewear. That means that she spent a lot of time missing her mark, which refers to a place on set she was supposed to stand but couldn't see the tiny dot without her glasses.

In the end, they got glowing endorsements from the producers. Sandberg even chimed in on the two actresses.

"They are both highly skilled performers who don't have a mean bone in their body. Neither of them, in their entire body," Sandberg told Latina Magazine. "And on set they're both complete goofballs. You couldn't ask for a lovelier cast; really sweet."
