'NBA 2K16' News: Michael Jordan Will Be Featured on the Special Edition, Exclusive Bonuses Offered
"NBA 2K16" buyers now have yet another cover choice when purchasing the basketball simulator.
The special edition of the game will feature NBA legend Michael Jordan on the cover and will come with some special bonuses and memorabilia, according to a press release Wednesday.
Pre-ordering the special edition will allow buyers to receive and start playing the game Sept. 25, four days earlier than the general release.
The special edition will also come with Jordan memorabilia and some in-game bonuses.
Included in the special edition is the following:
- Jordan "NBA 2K16" poster
- Jordan Fathead wall cling
- Digital Jordan shoes for MyPLAYER mode
- Digital Jordan shirt for MyPLAYER mode
- Digital Jordan jersey for MyPLAYER mode
Players will also receive in-game bonuses for purchasing the special edition. They will receive 30,000 Virtual Currency (VC), three Emerald Packs and a special edition Exclusive Moments card.
This will be the third time Jordan will appear on the cover of an "NBA 2K" game. Jordan is a 14-time NBA All-Star, six-time NBA World Champion and five-time NBA Most Valuable Player.
"I'm excited about this year's 'NBA 2K's' Special Edition," Jordan said. "'NBA 2K16' allows gamers young and old to not only experience and re-create some of my greatest moments on the basketball court but also customize their players with Jordan shoes and apparel."
The special edition "NBA 2K16" will cost $79.99 and be available in both digital and disc-based format, according to Inquistr. It will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The non-special edition of "NBA 2K16" features one of three athletes: Stephen Curry, James Harden or Anthony Davis. The athlete on the front of the cover will be random, but the game will include a foldable insert so that players can customize the cover to their liking. This edition can be pre-ordered as well, giving players access to the game on Sept. 25.
