The latest installment to the "Paranormal Activity" horror franchise, "Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension," has released a trailer for what has been dubbed the finale to the hit series of "found footage" films, according to USA Today.

"It's coming to an end. This is it, the finale," franchise producer Jason Blum told USA Today. "We're saying it before the movie opens. We're not going to grind this horror franchise into the ground. This will keep 'Paranormal Activity' as part of this culture and this particular time in a really fantastic way."

The film series has seen five previous sequels, one of which was considered a spinoff. The series has taken on a demanding edge for fans who want answers to some burning questions in the series. One of the biggest questions has been centered around who Toby is, what he looks like and where the families come from.

"We've done well without showing Toby, being able to create tensions and scares based on audiences' imagination," original film creator Oren Peli told USA Today. "But people are very curious."

But that does not quite answer the question as to whether or not the last film will wrap up the stories and answer the key questions.

"We couldn't go just teasing," Blum said. "All the questions that everyone has asked from the past 'Paranormal Activity' films: What does Toby look like? What's the backstory to the families? These questions have been teased out. Now they will be answered."

So that basically means Toby will finally be revealed in this final installment to the hit franchise, which was launched by Peli in 2007 with a $15,000 budget and actors, Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat.

The first film would go on to gross $193 million worldwide. The franchise has brought in a total of $383 million over the previous five films releases. These small-budget, "found footage" style films have been considered some of the most profitable in the history of the industry, even out pacing the original concept of "The Blair Witch Project" from 1999.

The film is slated to hit theaters on Oct. 23, which is the flagship time-period for its previous releases meant to coincide with the horror momentum of Halloween. This theatrical release will also include a 3D version.
