The news of NBC's cancellation of the cult series "Hannibal" hit fans very hard, according to UPROXX.

That may be a moot point since Amazon is clearly in a prime position to pick up the series due to an exclusive arrangement with NBC to have the sole streaming rights to the series once the episodes air on the Peacock network, according to Variety.

But in the two days since it has been canceled, a petition to save the series has been started on Change.org, which cites the goal of getting 75,000 signatures. By 3 p.m. ET on Wednesday, there were already more than 58,000 signatures.

The pacing success of this petition seems to indicate that fans want this show to stay active, and they are probably not too picky about were it ends up. They just want the show to continue.

The petition clearly states "What are you thinking? Renew Hannibal" in the headline, so it is not a petition for another network or streaming service to pick it up, rather a petition for NBC to renew it.

The petition was started by Carlos Mazal, who is based out of London, as stated on the main page.

UPROXX reports that "Fannibals" have really caught on to the storytelling techniques of showrunner Bryan Fuller. These include the use of "stunning visuals and cutting edge storytelling [that] hit the network in a manner that was, and still is, uncommon for broadcast programming," as quoted in their article.

The DeLaurentiis Company clearly acknowledged on Twitter that the show had always been in danger of cancellation due to subject matter. This comes in part to it airing on a broadcast network that falls under FCC control.

But they also said that they have several entities that have expressed interest in partnering with them on the show.
