Netflix’s ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ Series Releases its First Trailer [Watch]
A lot of series have come and gone on Netflix, but it is its originals that will be staying around for quite some time.
On July 31, Netflix will also release its next original series, which will be a prequel to the 2001 cult-hit "Wet Hot American Summer," according to Deadline.
But now that the hype is over, the trailer for the upcoming "Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp" series has been released, and it has a lot in common with the era of 1981, which portrays classic VHS production value. This includes tracking lines at the bottom of the picture that people in the '80s had to constantly adjust to get the picture right. Nevertheless, the trailer gives it an authentic feel for the satiric, comedy-driven era series.
The video features an advertising piece for the fictional Camp Firewood, which includes people, counselors and kids alike, having fun at the camp doing various recreational activities that are typical for an American camp at the time. It also features bad editing production, which results in an accidental clip of a gratuitous sex scene that is only seen for a fraction of a second.
The show will feature a long list of the original stars returning to the series. This includes the likes of Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Molly Shannon, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks and Christopher Meloni, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
These actors all have established names now, but at the time of the original film's release, they were still emerging in Hollywood as hopefuls.
Jon Hamm of "Mad Men" will also be joining the cast for the series in an unspecified role. Joe Lo Truglio of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" is also going to be featured on the show along with Michael Ian Black of "The State."
The series debuts exclusively on Netflix on July 31.
