Apple Watch 2 Spec Rumors: Features, Improvements Expected on Next Apple Watch
The next Apple Watch, which could be called the Apple Watch 2, is expected to receive some new features and improvements.
One major improvement it could see is less reliance on the iPhone, according to TechRadar.
The next Apple Watch is not expected until 2016 since the current model is only a few months old. At first, the Apple Watch was not available on sale at stores and only online, but it recently went on sale for in-store purchases.
Currently, the Apple Watch allows for audio only calls. A major improvement in the next Apple Watch could be adding video support to allow users to watch videos and make video calls through Facetime.
Some of the new features on the next Apple Watch could be made possible without an iPhone nearby. A new wireless chipset could be incorporated into the next Apple Watch that would allow basic communication without a connected iPhone. This could also help the Apple Watch find a lost iPhone or vice versa.
There are three choices for the current Apple Watch: The entry-level Apple Sport Watch, the mid-grade Apple Watch, and the premium Apple Watch Edition.
The next Apple Watch could offer even more choices using more materials. The next batch of watches could be made out of titanium, platinum or even Liquidmetal.
Battery life has been disappointing for Apple Watch owners since it requires a daily charge. Even with this complaint, the battery life is not expected to be a feature that Apple is focusing on. The software might see some improvements to inch out some additional battery life, but nothing extraordinary.
The shape of the Apple Watch is square. While some might like this look, others might want a circular shape. Watches from Android Wear come in a variety of shapes and sizes and it would be nice to see more variety in the Apple Watch.
According to MacRumors, the software update to WatchOS is expected soon. WatchOS 2 could show some previews of the features that might be included in the next Apple Watch.
