Speaking out against Hollywood can get you the boot, especially if it has anything to do with gender equality or sexism. At least that's what Rose McGowan has said, HitFix reports.

McGowan sent out a tweet Wednesday announcing she had been fired by her "acting agent" in a backlash against her speaking out against Hollywood sexism. Just last week, McGowan posted a tweet that criticized an Adam Sandler movie casting announcement because of the demands made to the female characters in terms of attire.

The announcement came with a script that was sent to McGowan about a role she was up for. It clearly stated that women were to wear tight-fitting clothes and tank top that revealed cleavage.

It also said that potential actresses were to read the attached script before attending the casting call.

Now that the social media post has made the rounds, the response to it has been swift. She has been fired, or dropped, by her agent, who handled her career among other well-known stars.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, one of the agents representing McGowan has since left the agency. Though Hitfix said that the agent actually left before McGowan was fired.

Sheila Wenzel has been confirmed by the company Innovative to have left their employment.

"Sheila Wenzel, Rose McGowan's primary agent, parted ways with Innovative before McGowan's tweet yesterday," according to the statement.

It is unclear at this time if she has retained McGowan or not.

McGowan quickly came to Wenzel's side with another tweet in her defense.

"Sheila Wenzel is a wonderful agent that ceased working with Innovative before my firing. She's a good, strong woman I'm proud to know," McGowan wrote in the post.

This scandal follows in the heels of a revolution as of late that has been taking place in Hollywood, which has been under fire following an ACLU report that states gender inequality is highly prevalent in the city industry.
