NBC has released the first promotional teaser for its upcoming "Heroes Reborn" series.

The new series is set to reboot the beloved "Heroes" and bring new characters as well as some returning ones.

The new teaser entitled "Where Are the Heroes" shows the slogan all over the trailer with the slogan painted on city walls and used in protests. The images in the teaser are also rather bleak with destruction all around cities, poverty, lost children, dirty animals, protests, burning buildings and general chaos. The trailer also includes some somber music which adds to the dark tone to the overall trailer.

While NBC has yet to release the first full-length trailer for "Heroes Reborn," it seems that the series will be darker than the original. That is no surprise given the path most superhero films have taken. NBC most likely wants to give its new series that same type of look especially since that tone has appealed to superhero fans.

"Heroes Reborn" is one of the most anticipated series for the fall and the new series will be 13 episodes. It will also follow the lives of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary abilities. The series will present its trailer to the public at Comic-Con where the show's creator and actors will hold a panel about the upcoming season.

The original "Heroes" was released in 2006 and became one of the most popular television programs. It also went on to garner two nominations for the Golden Globes as well as a number of Emmy awards. The series also launched the careers of many actors including Hayden Panettiere, Masi Oka and Milo Ventimiglia. Like the new series, "Heroes" was unveiled at Comic-Con, where it received a huge following.

"Heroes Reborn" is set to premiere on Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. on NBC.
