We're almost halfway through the 2015 MLB season, and the MLB trade deadline is quickly approaching.

The Chicago Cubs are currently in third place in the National League Central with a 39-32 record. The Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals are ahead of the Cubs in the division. The Cubs haven't won a World Series since 1908, but fans are hoping the Back to the Future II prediction holds true.

The Cubs have been involved in trade rumors regarding their shortstop Starlin Castro. According to numerous reports, the Cubs could very well deal Castro soon. Castro could be heading from the Windy City to the Big Apple.

"We haven’t made a deal yet, but there’s been matches that made sense, and I’m sure we’ll talk to them in the future. I guess when you factor in the hitting and the pitching, I guess people think it’s unusual, Hoyer said of the fact the teams haven’t hooked up on a trade. But it’ll happen at some point" said Hoyer.

Castro is currently signed with the Cubs until 2019, with a team option in 2020. He's set to make $37 million in base salary over the next four seasons.

The Mets began the season playing very well, but they've hit a wall lately. The Mets losing streak recently ended with a win over the Milwaukee Brewers, but they have lost seven of their last eight games. The Mets are now 37-37, 3.5 games behind the Washington Nationals in the National League East. Making a trade for Castro could be beneficial because the Mets have scored the fourth fewest runs in the league this season.

The 25-year-old out of the Dominican Republic is clearly not having the best offensive season of his career. Castro is batting just .261 this year coming off an All-Star 2013 season. Maybe a change of scenery is a good thing for Castro. Regardless of his down year at the plate, Castro is still a great defensive player.

Troy Tulowitzki is the big name who could be traded this year, but Castro is five years younger, the Mets could use another shortstop, and he would cost far less than Tulowitzki.

Just eight miles away on the south side of Chicago, there's another team who may be interested. The Chicago White Sox are presently in last place in the American League Central, so they are expected to make some deals soon. Chris Sale has been playing amazing this year, but the White Sox haven't benefited one bit from his performances on the mound.

It's extremely unlikely that the White Sox would trade Sale away for Castro straight up, but HNGN suggests that the Cubs and White Sox could benefit in a multiplayer trade this year involving both players. If this were to happen, the Cubs would of course have to up the ante if they were to grab a hold of Sale. If Castro did get traded to the White Sox he would be playing in an entirely different league (AL), but he would still be playing in Chicago.

The MLB trade deadline is Friday, July 31.
