Jimmy Fallon has been hospitalized with a hand injury, and the taping of Friday's episode of his show, "The Tonight Show," has been canceled.

Billboard is reporting that Fallon injured his hand in an accident and a repeat of his show will air tonight. The official Twitter account for the show shared the news.

"Unfortunately tonight's taping has been canceled due to Jimmy injuring his hand. He's totally fine but we'll be airing a repeat," the tweet said

According to TMZ, the funny man was at dinner on Thursday night at New York City's Scalinatella with friends. He was even posing with female fans. He went home around 9 p.m. and was fine. According to his representative, the injury to his left hand happened early Friday morning in his apartment. He went to the hospital, and a specialist recommended he have surgery immediately.

According to the New York Daily News, a restaurant worker said that the high-profile customer appeared "fine" when he left the premises.

For people who were to attend tonight's taping, the show announced that they will be in touch about the reschedule of the tickets.

Fallon, who has been the host of "The Tonight Show" since 2014, is expected to make a full recovery after surgery. It is unknown how the injury occurred. 

Fallon replaced Conan O'Brien as host of "Late Night" in 2009.
