"Falling Skies" finally premiered last night.

The episode "Find Your Warrior" picks up pretty much exactly where it left off last year with some unknown entity using memories from Tom's past as a method of communication. For now the true identity of the entity remains a mystery despite fleeting glimpses of the creature. Rather than coming out and simply saying what it wants, the creature uses an avatar of Tom's deceased first wife as a method to communicate the urgency of the situation.

With this episode, there's a more in-depth look at all the characters and an idea of how the aliens have taken control of all the resources. The only resource the humans have is their will.

With Episode 2 approaching this Sunday, the humans will not have one vital component on their side: food. According to CarterMatt, here is the full synopsis of the episode "Hunger Pains":

"A surprise skitter attack leaves the 2nd Mass without food. In desperation, Maggie, Ben, Pope and Sara go on a dangerous mission hoping to find supplies."

"Falling Skies" star Noah Wyle revealed in an interview with Yahoo that this season will get much darker.

"There is a darker turn to the character for sure this year, but it was inevitable," Wyle said.

"We have a scene where Tom does something fairly brutal, and then the network looks at the dailies and goes, 'What are you guys doing? It's so dark! This is Tom Mason we're talking about -- he's supposed to inspire us! You can't do that!'"

Wyle said the scene was toned down, but the characters are still being pushed in ways they haven't been in the past.

With only nine episodes remaining, it is becoming clear this will end with a war with the humans and aliens. In the aftermath of the season premiere, will many questions be answered? The foundation has been set up.

Don't miss the next episode of "Falling Skies" Sunday at 9 p.m. on TNT.
