De La Hoya, who hasn't fought since 2008, was recently challenge by Floyd Mayweather Jr. Originally, De La Hoya had a "50/50" chance of fighting Mayweather. According to ESPN, the "Golden Boy" stated that he was serious about entering the ring again. He said: "I am so hungry and so determined. I am young, I am healthy and I feel great... 42 is the new 32."

"Right now I feel the best I have felt in my life physically, emotionally, mentally because I haven't touched alcohol for I don't know how long. I'm training. I feel great. But it has to be worth my while," he continued. De La Hoya was an admitted alcoholic and drug addict and has done at least two stints in rehabilitation to deal with his addictions.

He said he was only interested in either a rematch against the undefeated Floyd Mayweather or a bout against Kazakh middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin. There is also talk of him fighting Amir Khan for his final match in September.

Mayweather recently beat Manny Pacquiao in May in unanimous decision.
