The New York Knicks need all the help they can get this summer in order to bounce back in the 2015-16 season. While they are being linked to big-name free agents, the Knicks are also reportedly interested in Jeremy Lin.

Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders revealed the Knicks, who had the second-worst record in the league last season at 17-65, are eyeing a reunion with Lin, who had the best moments of his career with the Knicks.

"There have been rumblings from league sources that the Knicks may pursue free agent Jeremy Lin this summer," Kennedy posted on Twitter. "No word what they would offer."

Lin, who averaged 11.2 points on top of 4.6 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game last season, will be an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday and the Lakers are not expected to tender an offer to him after selecting promising point guard D'Angelo Russell in the 2015 NBA Draft on Thursday.

Even before the 2014-15 NBA season, there have been reports linking Lin to a possible return to the Knicks as analysts viewed the 26-year-old point guard as a good fit to the triangle offense the team is running.

Lin is also a fan favorite in New York because of his popular 'Linsanity' moment during the 2011-12 season. He had a string of impressive performances, which was enough for him to earn a lucrative deal after that season.

The former Harvard University standout, who averaged 14.6 points and 6.2 assists in 35 games with the Knicks in 2012, signed a back-loaded three-year, $25.12 million deal with the Houston Rockets.

However, Lin failed to live up to expectations in his first two seasons in Houston. He was then traded to the Los Angeles Lakers before the 2014-15 NBA season started.

Lin was named starting point guard of the Lakers after veteran point guard Steve Nash failed to start the season because of a recurring back injury, but he eventually lost his spot in the starting lineup.

While he has been away from the Knicks for the past three seasons, Lin said during a visit to the Madison Square Garden that New York has a special place in his heart.

"Every time I come back, I always have great memories," Lin said in April via NJ.com. "I remember those great times. I'm always thankful. Coming back to New York with these fans at the Garden, that was very special to me and I'll always cherish that."
