Unfortunately, fans of "Jane The Virgin" will have to wait until mid-October to find out what happened to baby Mateo.

According to TV Guide, the comedy series will kick off its second season on Monday, Oct. 15.

As viewers may recall, Season 1 ended after Jane finally gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Mateo. However, shortly after his birth, her newborn baby was kidnapped by Sin Rostro. Meanwhile, Petra took Rafael's swimmers home from the fertility clinic, while it was discovered that Jane's parents, Xiomara and Rogelio, eloped while they were drunk in Last Vegas.

Apparently, viewers were not the only ones who were shocked to see Jane's baby snatched away from her just when she was relishing in the moment of motherhood. In an interview with Time, actress Gina Rodriguez revealed that she, too, was stunned when she discovered how the season would end.

"I had no idea until the day before we started shooting," the 30-year-old actress said. "In the beginning, I was like, 'This could be crazy. How am I going to be prepared for this?'"

She went on to admit that she was apprehensive about giving birth on camera.

"When I read the script, though, I was terrified of giving birth. I mean, terrified. I obviously don't have any children. I've never given birth before. You can watch as many videos until you're like, 'Wow, this is a very personal experience,'" she said

"Then the capturing of Mateo at the end, I thought, was brilliant because it's such an amazing cliffhanger. What I am looking forward to more than anything is seeing how she resolves it, like seeing what happens to Jane when she finds out Mateo's gone. I'm actually very excited to play that. I don't know what I'm going to decide to do. She's going to find out right when we open the next episode. It must be. I can only imagine, right?"

The leading actress continued, saying she is excited to see how Jane will evolve in Season 2:

"I'm excited to see our second season, because the one thing that I really loved about the first season was seeing Jane's strength as a woman. Her getting broken up with Rafael and her starting to create this strength of protecting herself and her child, I thought that was so empowering for women," she explained.

"Seldom do you see a woman on screen taking that kind of strength and power into their own hands. I thought that that was really cool to put out there, especially because you know that there's the teen audience that is watching. To give a little girl that kind of perspective is awesome and so powerful and so needed," she added.
