Selena Gomez and Lorde Feud: Bieber's Ex Won't Retaliate Against Royals Singer's Diss
Selena Gomez isn't letting the feud with Lorde (seemingly one-sided feud, at that) get the better of her: she recently told an interviewer that if she sees Lorde, they will be "cool"!
According to The Huffington Post, Selena -- who is on the cover of the upcoming Seventeen Magazine -- told the interviewer that she respects Lorde's opinion of her, but she doesn't understand where the animosity (which began when Rolling Stone interviewed Lorde, in which she disses Gomez) comes from. "I recently did an interview and they asked me who I thought was up-and-coming and making a difference," Gomez told Seventeen. "I said, 'She doesn't like me, but Lorde.' I'm going to support her whether she likes me or not because I think she's doing great things. Some day I will see her and we'll be cool."
Before Lorde dissed Gomez, Gomez would cover "Royals" during her concerts. After the diss, however, Selena wouldn't cover the song anymore. Still, she wishes her competitor well. "I appreciate everybody's opinion, especially because I've covered her music lots of times," she said. "I think she is super talented and I think it's awesome. But I think at the same time that feminism and that specific thing is very sensitive because in my opinion it's not feminism if you're tearing down another artist. So that's the only thing that I feel. But you know, she's young, she's got so much talent, she's gonna take over, she gets it, so I don't take it to heart."
As we know, Gomez has been in the midst of some relationship drama, thanks to on-again/off-again, is-he-or-isn't-he, recently-arrested boyfriend Justin Bieber. So who does she turn to for advice? Some of her best friends... who also happen to be some of the biggest stars of today. "I actually talked to Katy Perry about guys who are intimidated by strong girls. I haven't found someone yet who could understand my lifestyle, support it, love me through it, and not be threatened by it. It's hard. I do think I might scare some guys, because I'm like, 'I want to change the world! I have dreams! What do you want to do?' But I only know how to be me," Gomez said.
