A new "Hitman" title is coming soon to gaming consoles. Game publisher Square Enix announced the latest iteration from the franchise developed by IO Interactive at the recently concluded E3 event in Los Angeles.

The game that introduced Agent 47 to the gaming world will be the sixth title from the franchise and will simply be called, "HITMAN." Unlike the previous iterations that came out with sub-titles, the studio decided to go "back to the basics" with naming the video game.

Production Director Hakan Abrak was a guest at the Angry Joe Show when he clarified the reason for the simple title and what the upcoming game is all about.

Abrak stated that the new "HITMAN" game is not a reboot. In developing the new title, the team opted to revisit all the titles that they produced in the past 17 years and from there, they analyzed which among the previous iterations were successful and appealed to the fans the most.

The production director also said that all the features that made the past titles such as "Absolution," "Blood Money" and others will be taken in and worked on to create the new title for IO Interactive.

According to the press release on the game's official website, the upcoming title is a "pure Hitman experience and the foundation for future HITMAN games."

Aside from the elements of past titles combined into the new game, IO Interactive also decided to make each setting in the title a "living sandbox." This means that while previous titles assign targets, approach and location to the players, the upcoming game will give the players freedom to choose how Agent 47 will act and proceed with the assassination.

The studio also teased of a new multi-player mode where all players will have one target to kill only.

"Imagine a target appearing for every player in the world, for a limited time only... let's say 48 hours. Where your one shot counts. And when that target is gone, it is gone forever," read the announcement.

IO Interactive added that the developers will take into consideration the suggestions and comments of players as they continue working on the game to give users the greatest experience from the video game.

"HITMAN" will be available as a digital download beginning December 8 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
