ISIS News: Terror Attack in Egypt Kills More Than 100, Syrian Islamist Rebels Execute IS Militants
Separate events of violence in the Middle East have put the region in a state of fear.
In Egypt, the country's army said that Wednesday more than 100 militants and 17 soldiers were killed in attacks at military checkpoints in North Sinai, Reuters reports.
The attack appears to be coming from Islamic State's Egyptian affiliate called Sinai Province. They have claimed responsibility and said that they have attacked more than 15 security sites and performed three suicide bombings.
The Egyptian army said they will not stop operations, which have included F-16s and Apache helicopters, until they clear out all "terrorist concentrations" in the area.
Violence has escalated in the area, which sits near Israel, the Gaza Strip and the Suez Canal. This attack is the second of the week. On Monday, a bomb killed the prosecutor-general in Cairo.
In Syria, an Islamist rebel group has sent out a video of its fighters shooting a group of Islamic State (IS) militants, according to the BBC.
The Jaysh al-Islam militants are shown in the video wearing orange and shooting 18 men dressed in black. The militants say they killed them to get revenge for the recent beheadings of three Jaysh al-Islam fighters.
Jaysh al-Islam, who are backed by the Saudis, accuse IS of being allies with Syria's government.
The video is 20 minutes long and is similar to the videos that IS produces to announce killings of hostages and government soldiers.
The video shows the IS fighters in black robes and black balaclavas being marched in chains through the Syrian countryside by armed men dressed in orange, similar to outfits IS prisoners wear before execution.
The video ends with the removal of the balaclavas before the men are shot in the head.
