New iPods: iTunes May Have Leaked New Colors of Upcoming iPods
Apple may have released some early images of the upcoming iPods by accident in the new iTunes software, version 12.2.
If the images are true, it looks like there will be at least three new colors for the iPod, according to Mashable.
MacRumors was the first to spot the images within iTunes. The image of the new gold iPod appears when a user tries to setup a new iPod or restore one. When they perform this task, an image of three different iPods is shown. There is a gold iPod nano, a dark blue iPod Touch and a hot pink iPod Shuffle. These three colors have not been previously available for these iPods, The Verge reports.
The sizes and shapes of the iPods appear unchanged, so there might just be some new colors. Apple could update the internal components of the iPods by making them faster or giving them a better battery life, while keeping the exterior features the exact same.
Apple has neglected the iPod for several years, focusing more on the iPhones and iPads. The last major update for the iPod came in 2012, so they are due for some improvements.
What iPods really need is a new processor. The iPod is way behind the iPhone and iPad in speed. A new iPod would greatly benefit from a faster processor.
Apple has added silver, space gray and gold to more of its products. These three colors first appeared on iPhones and now are available for the MacBook and Apple's Beats headphones.
If there is going to be an update to the performance of the iPod it would likely debut this fall along with the next iPhone.
What do you think of the new colors for the iPod? Will these new devices keep the iPod selling or should Apple move on? Leave a comment below and let us know.
