A Calgary man was arrested after tying 100 helium balloons to a chair and flying over Calgary.

WGN TV reported Daniel Boria was arrested for trying the stunt. Boria said he was trying to get publicity for his cleaning business. Originally, he wanted to parachute into Calgary's annual Stampede rodeo event.

As he approach the city, Boria jumped off the chair and opened the parachute attached to his back. When he landed, he was arrested without any incident. He is charged with one count of mischief and endangering a life.

In an interview with CBC News, Boria describe his flight.

"At one point I was looking up at the balloons, they were popping, the chair was shaking and I was looking down at my feet dangling through the clouds at a 747 flight taking off and a few landing," Boria said.

"It was incredible. It was the most surreal experience you can ever imagine. I was just by myself on a $20 lawn chair up in the sky above the clouds."

His stunt cost him $20,000, which included hiring an airplane to circle around the Stampede grounds with a banner advertising his cleaning company.

Most people were impressed with the publicity stunt. Calgary police, on the other hand, weren't pleased.

"I don't think any publicity stunt is worth your life, nor obviously the life or property of somebody else," Insp. Kyle Grant said.

"I know that the courts won't look upon this with any sort of jocularity. When you are taking people's safety into account, especially when you are talking about the Stampede -- hundreds of thousands of people who are on the grounds in a given day -- that's not something that any justice will take lightly at all," he added.

No word if Boria got the idea from the movie "Up."
