Nike KD 8 ‘V-8’ Release Date, Price & Where To Buy [Pics]
The new colorway of the eighth signature shoe of Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant is set to hit the market this weekend.
The KD 8 will come out in what is dubbed as the KD 8 'V-8' edition, which is officially listed as the Bright Crimson/Black-White colorway of this new signature sneaker.
The new KD 8 "V-8" edition features a crimson-based upper part with black hints, including the KD logo on the tongue along with a white Nike Swoosh logo. According to Nike, the new "V-8" edition was inspired by Durant's Camaro, which symbolizes his success in his illustrious basketball career and his excellence on the hard court.
"Speed and strength breaks ankles on the court, but it can also turn heads on the street. one of the first things KD picked up after the draft was a cherry-red ride with 600hp," Nike noted. "Its high-octane V-8 was the automotive mirror of KD's offense, and the perfect way to arrive at the arena before taking it over."
The new KD 8 "V-8" will be available on Saturday, 10 a.m. EDT, with retail price set at $180 per pair on Nike.com and select retailers worldwide. Official photos of this new KD signature shoe are available on this link.
The new KD 8 has been making waves online since Durant and Nike unveiled the new signature shoe, which made its debut on Saturday as part of the company's "4th of July" collection.
The KD 8 signature shoe, which was made to meet the demands of Durant's style of play, is the first shoe to feature both a Flyweave upper part and articulated full-length Zoom Air unit.
The new KD 8 is the first signature shoe to feature the Flyweave innovation. According to Nike, the high-strength woven textile provides superb support, but the shoe will feel like a second skin because of natural movement.
The model's full-length Nike Zoom air unit was also specially designed to fit Durant's need after he struggled with foot injuries, which limited the former Most Valuable Player to just 27 games last season.
"Thousands of high-strength fibers connect the top and bottom of this Zoom Air unit, which runs the foot's entire length," Nike wrote. "For the first time in basketball, this Zoom Air unit is designed with strategically placed notches in the forefoot and heel to intuitively flex with the foot's movement."
Another interesting feature of the new KD 8 is the unique heel design that shows fangs of a sabertooth. Durant has a sabertooth tattoo above his right ankle. More colorways of this new model are expected to come out in the coming weeks.
