Unfortunately, a tribute honoring fallen star Cory Monteith went really wrong at the 2014 Grammys. Many are calling the misspelling of Cory's last name disrespectful and careless. It's too bad that such a special moment was taken away by such a fixable mistake. Fans are asking today, why didn't the people in charge simply double check for spelling of the deceased actor's surname?

With the advancement in technology today is nearly impossible for such an honorary award show to make a mistake like this. Cory Monteith was an actor and singer who anyone can easily Google, finding the correct spelling of his name. We aren't spelling experts here but for a tribute held for the Glee star, who passed away in 2013, this presentation should have been flawless. The correct spelling of Cory's last name is "Monteith," not "Montieth," like the big screen at the 56th Annual Awards displayed.

"Dear Recording Academy, it's 2014 & no one has spell check? His name is Cory MONTEITH!!! Fire the fact check clerk!" a fan tweeted. Another Gleek, as Glee fans call themselves, tweeted, "GREAT JOB SPELLING CORY'S NAME WRONG IN HIS TRIBUTE LAST NIGHT #youshouldbeashamed." Fans are saying that the spelling error is disrespectful to Cory's memory and, well, it is. Instead of using the moment to remember and honor Cory, viewers became too distracted by the swap of letters in his name.

Cory's memory will live on but this Grammy mistake unfortunately will be hard to forget. Monteith was a loving soul who will be missed not only by his friends and loved ones but by his fans and cast members. Paris Barclay, Glee's 100th episode director, told the 66th Annual Directors Guild Awards, "I don't think it could go much farther without continuing to talk about how that hurts," about Cory's absence on the show.

The Recording Academy in charge of the Grammy Award Show has not commented on the incident. Rest in peace, Cory Monteith.
