It is getting closer to that time of year again. It's Madden season.

"Madden NFL 16" is scheduled to be released Aug. 25 and fans all across the country are getting excited. Last year's Madden did very well in sales, selling over 5 million copies, according to data compiled by VGChartz. With the newest version coming soon, there is no doubt that it will surpass the number of sales from last year.

So what's new in "Madden?" In an interview with The Examiner, EA Sports revealed that it is focusing on the visuals of the game. This year, EA Sports Ignite will change the way you will see "Madden." Rex Dickerson, creative director of "Madden 16," stated:

"The focus visually continues to be around best-in-class player likeness. This year we have hundreds of additional player head scans in the game and have improved both lighting and the skin shader on characters. Another area of focus this year was around dome and night lighting, with a brand new dual-shadow rendering solution. There are many other improvements in the crowd and in the presentation." All of this could not be possible with the new graphics engine.

There are other changes in "Madden 16," particularly with the defense. This year, EA Sports used the Seattle Seahawks defense as a catalyst for changes in the defensive schemes.

Dickerson told the Examiner more about the refined defensive gameplay changes in "Madden": "Seattle's defense inspired many of the defensive changes in "Madden NFL 16."

"The playoffs were also a big factor, as the high number of 'shot plays' that ended in dramatic outcomes was an undeniable fit for our multi-player catch interactions, he added. "Finally, Coach Madden informed us of the new extra point rule changes coming this year and we quickly implemented them into the game."
