Star Wars Episode VII Plot Spoilers: Donnie Yen Joins Francise; Han Solo Will Not Die in Episode VII?
Here come plot spoilers for “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens” and they have nothing to do with the film.
According to reports, Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen has been cast in Episode VIII or “Rogue One.” He is said to be playing a Jedi who meets Han Solo in the film.
That rumor potentially answers two major questions about the new world of the films.
The first answer revolves around Jedi. Those familiar with the franchise know that Darth Vader and the Emperor went about killing of Jedi during the time between Episodes III and IV. It is likely that not all of them were killed off, but how many survived remains unknown.
It could also suggest that between VI and VII, Luke Skywalker did train new Jedi and that Yen’s character is one of his pupils. That of course should become clearer in the upcoming J.J. Abrams movie.
The big answer however has nothing to do with Jedi. It has everything to do with Han Solo.
Potential Spoiler Alert!
There is one huge rumor going around claiming that in this film will feature the death of Han Solo at the hands of Kylo Ren.
While there has been no confirmation that this will happen, it has been one narrative actively propagated throughout the last few months.
However, if Han Solo is meeting Yen’s character in Episode VIII, it is likely that the space pirate is not getting killed off in the new film. That would debunk the popular narrative of the film that has been making its way across the internet.
Of course the sources are not clear on whether Yen is appearing in Episode VIII or in the upcoming Rogue One movie. It might be more likely that he appears in the spin-off film and that he meets Han Solo along his adventures. That would open up another can of worms – who plays the young Han Solo and what is his involvement in stealing the Death Star plans? Why wouldn’t he bring it up in Episode IV?
“Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens” hits theaters on Dec. 18.
