‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Releases New 3-Minute Video, Season 1 Details [Watch]
New details have been emerging for the upcoming release of the highly anticipated AMC spinoff series "Fear the Walking Dead," which includes a new 3-minute video from the set of the production that shows them filming the scenes.
There are also new promises made by showrunner Dave Erickson that this show will be different than its predecessor because it is a prequel, according to Entertainment Weekly.
What fans need to realize is that "The Walking Dead" has been firmly entombed in the world of the zombie apocalypse. The only exception to that was the first few minutes of the series where Sheriff's Deputy Rick Grimes was shot in the line of duty trying to apprehend a criminal. The rest of the show takes place after the outbreak and the zombies had already taken over the surface area, mostly.
This prequel show takes place while the zombie ("Walker") epidemic is still in its early stages. It occurs when the Walkers are just emerging as slow-moving, cannibalistic monsters. The population is still fairly naïve to the idea of the outbreak.
This all means that the show will focus less on the sheer scare of zombie hordes and more on the psychological fright of what's coming for the characters.
The two main characters of the show, Madison (Kim Dickens) and Travis (Cliff Curtis), have come together with a unique arrangement early on that has given them leverage for survival.
"For Madison and Travis, the goal was to establish a strong couple," Erickson told EW. "They're not married yet: He's divorced, her first husband passed away several years ago, and the idea is they have the quality of soul-mates. They met each other, they're strong for each other, they compliment each other in the best way."
Erickson went on to explain that the Los Angeles setting puts more edge-of-your-seat terror into the viewer's eyes. This is due mostly to the fact that L.A. is dense with people, homes with rolling hills.
In Georgia, they had the woods and the characters knew what to expect. On "FTWD," the characters are still learning about the epidemic and how to survive. They also do not realize that it does not take a zombie bite to bring the dead back to life.
