The Lakers didn't see "Linsanity" during Jeremy Lin's one year contract with the storied franchise. Now, the Asian Sensation is taking his talents to North Carolina, joining Michael Jordan's Charlotte Hornets, ESPN reported.

Lin and the Hornets agreed on a contract, with both sides hoping Lin will be able to recapture his well publicized showing in New York in 2011 where he averaged 14.6 points and 6.2 assists per game, as per NBA.com. The guard announced his decision on Instagram:

Going into my first true free agency as an NBA player this off-season, the one thing that mattered to me the most was...

Lin was traded to the Lakers by Houston to clear space last season. Lin averaged 11.2 points and 4.6 assists per game in his sole year as a Laker. He didn't appear to fit with Lakers' coach Byron Scott's system, and in the past three years, Lin has struggled to retain his NY form. He's been steadily coming from the bench, most of the time assigned a specific role. Lin, in the last three years, has played ineffectively as a catch and shoot scorer, when he used to be an aggressive point maker, rolling off screens and driving toward the paint.

While this style of play proves effective for some of the league's players, Lin's shortcomings overshadow his strengths. He registered turnovers in 20 percent of possessions in pick-and-rolls, shot 36.2 percent spot-up and stays in the negative on defense.

Lin is well-aware of the league's impression of him and his performance but he rolls with the punches, nevertheless.

"There's always been doubt around me, around my name, ever since I stepped foot in the NBA," Lin told Bleacher Report's Howard Beck in February. "That's literally all I've had, is just a huge cloud of uncertainty, doubt and in a lot of ways maybe polarizing criticism around me, for whatever reasons. It's part of the journey."

Hopefully, the Hornets will be able to give Lin space to redeem himself. Only the coming season can show basketball fans if Linsanity will ever be a thing again.
