“The Last Ship,” TNT’s post-apocalyptic maritime hit drama about a crew of (physically) healthy people searching for a cure to stop a virus infecting most of humanity, has gone nuclear.

In the upcoming episode, “Achilles,” the crew, along with a small group of survivors from an attacked hospital ship, must face a nuclear-powered submarine led by rogue British naval officers.

In a promo video released ahead of Sunday's episode,Chandler (Eric Dane) stoically answers: “Both,” when asked if they are hunting or evading the submarine. It appears that the mission of the deadly sub is in fact to destroy the cure.

When Dane speaks with authority amid crisis, he is likely coming from a familiar place.
Having been through rehab for an addiction to painkillers following a sports injury two years back, Dane is grateful to have come back to a family that means everything to him now.

Speaking to People Magazine, the 42-year old actor who has been married to actress Rebecca Gayheart for a decade, with whom he has two daughters, says: "I honestly think I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be at this moment in time."

Back in 2009, a leaked video of the former “Grey’s Anatomy” star, along with his wife and former Miss Teen USA Kari Ann Peniche, hit the Internet and the actor’s reputation was seriously tarnished.

Years after rehab and a public shaming, Dane is sure that his problems are long gone, saying: "We've all made mistakes. My one regret is that I got the person I love most wrapped up in all that: Rebecca."

"I never had a family, and now I do," said Dane, adding, "I know I'm a very lucky guy."

The next episode of “The Last Ship” airs on Sunday, July 12 at 9 p.m. on TNT.
