‘Doctor Who’ Releases Electrifying New Trailer for Season 9 [Watch]
In an exclusive debut at this year's Comic-Con event in San Diego, "Doctor Who" burst on the stage with their panel and released to the world their Season 9 trailer that features spectacular visuals and what can only be deemed as an amazing storyline that is coming up on Sept. 19, according to Entertainment Weekly.
This year on "Doctor Who," fans will also be treated to a little dose of "Game of Thrones" with Maisie Williams appearing on the show, who was featured in the trailer as well. The 18-year-old actress that audiences have seen grow up in front of the camera on "Thrones" has been set for a guest-starring role on the series, according to U.K.-based Daily Mail.
The young actress is shown engaging with Peter Capaldi in what appeared to be a puzzling exchange that teases her importance to the series as well as the season. She also appears to be some sort of cryptic character to the Doctor, who is amazed to see that it is her (character of course).
Variety reports that the Thursday debut of the trailer at Comic-Con gave fans a glimpse at a season that promises new and old monsters coming on the scene this fall in a highly anticipated premiere for the long running series, which started in the U.K. over five decades ago and has undergone a series of transformative incarnations over the years, including the current one which is considered by most a reboot of the iconic series.
"I'm the doctor and I save people," Capaldi's character said in the trailer that has sent goosebumps of electrifying pride up the arms of devoted fans.
There have been rumors that the show will feature a new Doctor for the series coming soon, particularly a female heroine this time. But showrunner Steven Moffat had shut down those theories early on in the conference.
"There is no vacancy; you just met Peter Capaldi," Moffat said at the conference. "I think my opinion [on that] is fairly obvious from the show."
