Caitlyn Jenner Not Likely to Face Felony Charges in Deadly Car Crash
Caitlyn Jenner will more than likely not face felony charges stemming from a violent crash that killed a 69-year-old California woman earlier this year.
TMZ reports LA County Sheriff investigators have reviewed video footage of the crash taken from a MTA bus camera and have concluded the transgender former Olympic gold medalist did not commit a felony in connection with the February accident.
Kim Howe, 69, died in the crash when Jenner smashed into her Lexus and a black Prius. While concluding that she may have been a bit inattentive, investigators have concluded Jenner did nothing wrong outside of what would be considered the realm of "ordinary negligence," which almost certainly means the highest charge she could face is misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.
The New York Post also reports with there being no extenuating circumstances, such as Jenner being under the influence of drugs or alcohol or texting or talking on the phone at the time of the crash, the D.A. is likely to only seek misdemeanor charges at the time of the state's formal filing.
Meanwhile, TMZ also reported William Howe and Dana Redmond, the stepchildren of the victim, have filed legal documents against Jenner seeking more than the $500,000 in damages that her insurance policy is capped at.
Jenner is also being sued by the driver of the black Prius. She has previously filed legal docs contending that neither of Howe's adult stepchildren deserves to be financially compensated because they didn't depend on her and didn't have any relationship with her at the time of her death.
In all, seven people were injured in the crash that occurred just before noon on the Pacific Coast Highway near the intersection of Corral Canyon Road. Reportedly, Jenner's dark blue Cadillac Escalade was towing a dune buggy in a trailer when it plowed into the back of Howe's white Lexus.
