Powerball Numbers & Results July 15, 2015: Watch Live Stream of Drawing for $60 Million Jackpot
Wednesday’s chance to make big money playing Powerball is here. And since no one won the grand prize on Saturday -- when the winning numbers were: 11, 39, 46, 52 and 54, and the Powerball was 3 -- all that money has rolled over and is now at $60 million with a cash value of $36.6 million.
There were 373,465 regular winners and $2,237,386 in non-jackpot money was won.
There are actually nine ways to play Powerball. Although the odds will likely change in October, currently there is a 1 in 175,223,510.00 chance of winning the grand prize and a 1 in 5,153,632.65 chance of winning $1,000,000.
So the chances of winning are pretty slim, but people do win. The main thing a Powerball player has to do, outside of checking the numbers, is hold on to the ticket.
A man from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, just cashed in a $1 million Powerball ticket after letting the winning ticket sit in a stack of loser tickets for over a month. As reported by The Slate, the new winner just let the ticket sit because he simply had no idea he had become a millionaire. After hearing an announcement on the radio about a $1 million unclaimed Powerball prize, he checked the computer for winning numbers and went through his stack of saved-up tickets.
“I’ve been playing since the lottery started in South Carolina,” he said. “The most I’ve won before was $12.”
The new millionaire is no doubt a lucky guy, but according to the state lottery officials, if he had the foresight to spend an extra dollar for the PowerPlay option, his winnings would have been doubled.
