'True Detective' Season 2 Recap: Half Way Through and the Stories Are Coming Out in Arcs
It has been kind of hard to follow along with all the stories that have been coming out of Season 2 of the hit HBO series "True Detective." There seems to be a lot to know about all the different characters, of which this season has four main ones, according to Wired.
Frank Semyon (Vince Vaughn) had started the season on a high note and the prospect of legitimate business dealings. But that all that started to change when certain factors came into play. This includes the death of his business partner and his own reinvestment back into his crime dealings, which he is seen taking back over.
Taylor Kitsch's Paul Woodrugh is the character that seems to have the most struggles in the series. When it comes to Ani (Rachel McAdams) and Ray (Colin Ferrell), they have already established who they are in terms of personality and demeanor. Ani is tough as nails, which she started that persona early on in her life. Ray has been around long enough that there is little left to surprise him in this world.
But it is Paul who struggles with his identity as a cop and as a person. He is quite indecisive and, even if he commits to something, he then doubts himself and retreats later. This identity crisis may also end up leaving him dead or injured, but who is to say what may turn up in this gritty series that has garnered so much critical acclaim.
Ray attempts to give him the best support he can by simply telling him that his problem is everyone's problem, he just can't see it. Nobody in the world knows how to exist or what their role is in it.
An article in The Huffington Post says that in episode four, the body count really started to add up. This could also be indicative of what is to come for the show, which is only eight episodes per season and half way over.
