The iWatch doesn't officially exist, but its Apple most hyped, non iDevice product in years. It's most definitely coming soon. The iWatch will be an extension of the iOS experience and give you quick access to popular phone features such as the weather, alarm clocks, sports scores, headline news, traffic updates, your contacts and much more. The iWatch will have a long battery life for a mobile device, perhaps up to 5 days, but pitiful when compared to the months long batteries integrated into traditional watches.

However, if and when the iWatch is released, it will be a late addition to the smart watch party. Samsung was the first major company to release a smart watch. Sure, smaller startups like Pebble innovated this category, but Samsung's Galaxy Gear proved that smart watches could be the future of tech.

So how does the rumored Apple iWatch stack up to the in-the-flesh Samsung Galaxy Gear? CTECH and G4Games have reason to believe the iWatch will have a 100mAH battery. Typical smartphones like the iPhone line has 1500 to 3000mAH batteries, but this watch will be a low power device. It may even come with wireless charging capabilities. In plan English, that means the iWatch can be placed up to a meter away from the charging station and still recharge.

Reputable Apple news site Macrumors says the iWatch will have a 1.5" screen size. That is smaller than the 1.63" screen affixed to the Galaxy Gear smart watch. It will also reportedly carry a fully-fledged version of iOS, unlike Galaxy Gear's stripped down version of Android. As mentioned before, the battery life will be quite substantial, unlike the 24 hour battery length supplied with Galaxy Gear. The New York Times reports that the iWatch may incorporate a curved glass display. This is markedly different that the traditionally flat Galaxy Gear display.

Various reports peg the iWatch as being released sometime in 2014. One rumor has the watch debuting in the second quarter while another has the iWatch landing on store shelves this October. Whenever the actual release date is, expect the iWatch to fly off of store shelves nationwide.
