Breaking News: Five Dead, Including Shooter in Chattanooga, Tennessee Shooting
Authorities in Tennessee are currently investigating an "active shooter incident" that occurred late Thursday morning in Chattanooga.
The U.S. navy confirmed on Twitter that a shooting took place at a building on Amnicola Highway, which is nearby the Chattanooga State Community College.

NBC affiliate WRCB reported that one officer was shot at a Navy recruiting building and has been transported to the Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga for treatment. At 11:14 a.m. EST, the community college sent out a warning to students on Twitter, writing, "Tiger Alert !!!! Main Campus: Shooting off campus nearby. Main campus on lockdown until further notice. Stay indoors."

Twenty minutes later, the school sent out another tweet, telling students to "Stay away from Riverpark. Everyone stay inside, close doors."
Shortly after 11:30 a.m. EST, Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke also posted news about the shooting on Twitter, writing: "Horrific incident in our community. We will release details as they are confirmed. Prayers to all those affected."
One witness named Gina Mule told CNN that she saw a white man with "a high-powered rifle" open fire from a silver Mustang. She said she was watching through a window from inside a restaurant when she heard "Pow, pow, pow!" around 10:50 a.m. ET.
"I don't know how many shots he fired, but it was a lot," she said.
There were also reports that officials were investigating a shooting at Navy recruiting building on Lee Highway.
It is unclear if anyone was injured in the incident, but Fire Chief Randy Jackson said paramedics were standing by.
Police used barricades to block a road, while the Amnicola Highway was blocked in both directions, according to local news outlet The Chattanoogan.
