The third generation Moto X (2015) is expected to be unveiled next week on Tuesday, July 28. Here's what we know from leaks and rumors about prospective features and specs heading into the event so far.

Motorola is getting into the device-release hype game, having sent out invitations last week for events in New York City and London with the cryptic tagline "Your relationship status is about to change," and cursive-script hugs and kisses that look suspiciously like an "X G X" -- whatever that may portend.

One thing is pretty certain: there will be a third generation Moto X for 2015 unveiled at the event, following the cult success (and high praise from Latin Post) of the second gen Moto X released in 2014. In addition, judging by device submissions from Motorola to the FCC for review recently picked up by PhoneArena, we may see a new Moto G 2015 and a new DROID for Verizon.

But here we only care about the newest Moto X. Here's what to expect:

Display

There's a consensus around the 5.2-inch screen from early leaks and reports. This would be unchanged from the Moto X 2014, but the display resolution is expected to get a big bump -- up to 1440 x 2560p if rumors prove correct -- which would give the Moto X 2015 a legitimate flagship-rivaling 565 pixels per inch.

Power

Also obvious for an upgrade is the chipset, which will probably be a Snapdragon 808 running at 1.8 GHz and 1.44 GHz for the dual and quad cores respectively. Add a rumored 4GB of RAM and you're talking a pretty speedy third generation Moto X.

Battery

Details are still sketchy, but one of the only gripes consumers had about the Moto X 2014 was the so-so battery, so it wouldn't be surprising if rumors of a beefier 3000+ mAh juice pack is included. The Moto X 2014 only had a 2300 mAh battery, so any improvement in this department would be welcome.

Camera

The Moto X 2015 may get a majorly-upgraded camera, at 16 megapixels with optical image stabilization, if the rumors are true. But those same reports have a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter on the latest flagship from Motorola, which seems like a stretch for a line of devices that have so far emphasized practical features and unlocked affordability, rather than bells and whistles.

Look

If recent purported leaked images of the 2015 Moto X (along with two DROIDs and a 3rd gen Moto G) coming from hellomotoHK (via Android Authority) are accurate, the Moto X 2015 could be sporting a new, much more "DROID-y" design.

Other details and rumors remain too shaky to take without a big grain of salt, but luckily we should all find out exactly what's on its way to Moto fans starting early next week. Until then, stick with Latin Post Tech for all the latest developments!
