World soccer superstar Neymar finally broke his silence regarding his sorry run at the Copa America, seemingly responding to critics via social media site Instagram.

Neymar posted a photo of him smiling with a caption written in his native tongue:

"I was born to be happy, not perfect."

After a disappointing run playing for Brazil at the Copa America, 23-year-old wonderkid Neymar Jr. has been under fire from critics all over.

The Brazilian was handed with a four-match ban after their loss to Colombia during the Copa. He was issued a straight red card for his involvement in an in-pitch brawl with Jeison Murillo and Carlos Bacca of the Colombia camp, reported Goal in June. The subsequent clash with Chilean match referee Guillermo Osses following his red card in the Copa group-stage will render Neymar unable to play for his country's first two qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup, against Colombia once again, and Ecuador in October, Marca noted.

The striker has been subject to close scrutiny since the event, with his football frenzied home country Brazil still upset with the Selecao's early Copa America exit.

The Brazil national team was chosen by many critics as the favorite to win the cup - if not, at least, set up a historic Brazil-Argentina match a la Pele vs. Maradona.

The star has been faced with several instances of untoward media attention. The FC Barcelona striker was recently in a reported controversy showing the footballer inebriated with alcohol at a party.

The young star is shown in the footage as clearly under the influence of alcohol, stumbling as he tries to walk guests and bid their farewells. Media outfits took notice that Neymar even acted goofy and started singing when one of his lady friends asks him to do so.

Neymar commented on the situation during a press conference in Brazil: "It was bad luck to have invited a person who has nothing to do [with me]," he told reporters. "I was on holiday with my friends and that ended up happening. I cannot be at ease at home. Every day is worse."

CBS sports also reported about Neymar's partying, although this time, it looks like the football star just had fun with other famous atheletes. He posed with NBA superstar and Basketball Hall of Famer Michael Jordan and other celebrities.

The star is currently still on vacation in Las Vegas and will skip his Spanish club's USA tour for July. He and superstar club-mate Lionel Messi are scheduled to return to Spain in August before the season opens, Marca noted.
